The Final Showing of “AnimalScapes” Art Exhibit is in Tuolumne Starting March 15

Tuolumne, CA…Many hundreds of people have already enjoyed the popular “AnimalScapes of the Sierra Foothills” Art Event while it’s been in Amador and Calaveras Counties. If you haven’t seen the unusual show of 54 original pieces of juried art and poetry created by artists in three counties, there is one more opportunity: from March 15 to April 3rd, the unique exhibit will be installed in The Hotel of Black Oak Casino Resort in Tuolumne. The public is invited to come by and see the exhibit that explores the diverse animal world found in the Sierra foothills. The exhibit will be open daily, with most of the works for sale.

The Tuolumne Gala Opening Reception for “AnimalScapes” will be on Saturday, March 19th, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at The Hotel of Black Oak Casino. Besides meeting artists, guests will enjoy entertainment by Koya who sings, chants, and plays the Native American flute and drums. The Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians welcomes the public to the free event.

The landmark “AnimalScapes” art project was created through a “Creative California Communities” grant from the California Arts Council, a State Agency, and is a collaboration of the Calaveras Arts Council, the lead agency, along with AmadorArts and the Tuolumne County Arts Alliance.

Artists and poets were juried into the show and given three months to create theme-based original works. Art jurors further scrutinized the creativity, and cash prizes and ribbons were awarded. Anybody who comes to see the exhibit during its run may take part in the Popular Choice Award voting. This won’t be easy, because, after all, who doesn’t love to see a photograph, painting or sculpture of pets, wildlife or exotic animals?

You may also sign-up to purchase the $20 commemorative 2017 “AnimalScapes” Wall Calendar. The Hotel of Black Oak Casino Resort is located at 17807 Tuolumne Rd., Tuolumne CA 95379. For more information, visit www.calaverasarts.org or phone 209-754-1774.
