Copperopolis, CA….Calaveras County has been hard at work to fully restore the damages caused by Federally declared disaster DR-4699 on Copper Cove Drive over Black Creek in Copperopolis. Crews have removed debris, rebuilt the roadway embankments, and rebuilt road shoulders. Several early Spring rainstorms have hampered their efforts somewhat, but crews are determined to safely re-open the road as soon as possible.
Before the road can be opened, new guardrails must be installed where the road crosses the creek. Although it may seem that there is no work occurring onsite, guardrail fabrication is taking place in a production shop. The guardrails are necessary to ensure the safety of the traveling public. The new guardrails and posts are expected to be installed between April 12th and 13th.
The crossing is also scheduled to be paved during the week. With temperate weather currently forecasted, the County hopes to re-open the road to the traveling public by April 15th.
Because there are currently no guardrails, Calaveras County Public Works continues to maintain a complete road closure of Copper Cove Drive between Black Creek Drive and Cheyenne Road.
We appreciate your patience during this process.
