Jackson, CA…On Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 7:32 PM, the Amador County Sheriffs Office received a 911 call reporting a family dispute, with shots fired and a subject injured, In the 10000 block of Highway 49 in Martell. Deputies responded and were able to safely detain a male subject, later identified as 28-year-old Beau Glendenning Taylor, in front of the residence.

Deputies quickly gathered information and learned that a male subject inside the home sustained a gunshot wound. Deputies entered the residence and located an unconscious male, later identified as 59-year-old Richard William Lewis, with a gunshot wound to his face. Medic and fire personnel began life-saving measures, but despite their efforts Lewis succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

Members of the Amador County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Bureau responded and began an in depth investigation. Taylor was arrested and booked at the Amador County Jail for violating California Penal Code Section 187(A) – Murder. This investigation remains ongoing.
