Frogtown, USA…All eyes will be on the $20,000 Prize at the May 21 Grand Finals of the Jumping Frog Jubilee – but there are many other highlights. The increase in prize money has inspired more serious frog jumpers than ever before. Prior to the jump off between the 50 longest leapers in the four-day competition the crowd will enjoy several warm-up jumps.
The fun starts with face-offs between local elected officials. It will pit City of Angels Mayor against the —–, Chairman of the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors. Then law enforcement takes the stage with Sheriff Rick Dibasilio jumping against Angels Camp Chief of Police, Scott Ellis .
A Special Recognition Jump will salute the City of Springfield in the State of South Carolina where they have held a Frog Jump based on the action at Frogtown for some 57 years. Travis Still, winner of the Springfield Governor’s Frog Jump, is recognized with an entry in the sanctioned jumps section of the Grand Finals. His frog Cletus had the winning jump in Springfield at 10 feet and five inches.
