Richard Bruce Bradford (Dick) 1930 – 2023

Murphys, CA…Richard Bruce Bradford (Dick) passed away July 5, 2023, surrounded by family and caregivers. Born on May 12, 1930, to Wilmer and Mildred Bradford in Woodland CA, Dick was a graduate of UC Davis and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He was elected President of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers, in addition to running his private practice in Stockton and teaching appraisal education at several colleges.

After retiring to Murphys with his second wife Marlene, Dick became a highly respected woodworker, creating elegant turned bowls, Windsor chairs and unique jewelry, selling many of his artworks through Art on Main in Murphys. He served on the board of the local water district and made friends wherever he went in Calaveras County.

Early mornings were dedicated to coffee and breakfast gatherings with dear friends in Murphys and Angels Camp, and he was well loved by everyone he knew.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Marlene Wiley Bradford, his sons David and Eric (Dorsie), Marlene’s children Robyn (Gary), Blair (Cheryl), and Craig (Renata), grandchildren Nicole, Sam, Claire, Kendra and Tara, and great granddaughters Caitlyn and Kelly. He was predeceased by his first wife Charlene White Bradford in 1991, and his son Douglas in 2012.

A “Celebration of Life” casual gathering will be held Monday, August 28th at the Murphys Historic Hotel from 12PM-3PM. Memorial tributes can be made to Common Ground Senior Services in San Andreas or Hospice of San Joaquin in Stockton.
