San Andreas, CA…The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office proudly announces the outstanding achievement of Corporal Jesse Green, a Bret Harte High School graduate, at the 2023 World Police and Fire Games held in Winnipeg, Canada.
From July 26 to August 6, the city of Winnipeg played host to an impressive assembly of around 8,500 athletes from over 50 nations for the biennial sporting event. Among these distinguished world athletes, our very own Corporal Jesse Green stood tall, representing not only our department but also his alma mater, Bret Harte High School, with exceptional skill and sportsmanship.
On July 29, 2023, Corporal Green displayed his tenacity at the RBC Convention Center, taking part in the freestyle wrestling event. Competing in the 92 kg weight division for the 30 to 40 age category, Corporal Green’s lifelong training and focus led to a resounding victory in the finals where he secured his gold medal by a fall in the first period.
Sheriff DiBasilio stated, “Corporal Green’s accomplishment is a clear reflection of the dedication and spirit of our department’s members. As a Bret Harte High School alumnus and a current wrestling instructor at the school, his victory serves as an inspiration to young athletes in our community and underscores the importance of perseverance.”
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Corporal Green and convey our appreciation to the organizers of the World Police and Fire Games.
