…FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR THE MOSQUITO AND CALDOR WEST BURN SCARS
REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING…

* WHAT…Flash flooding and debris flows caused by excessive
rainfall from thunderstorms continue to be possible over the
Mosquito and Caldor West burn scars.

* WHERE…A portion of northern California, including the following
areas, Motherlode and West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada.

* WHEN…Through this evening.

* IMPACTS…Thunderstorms with heavy rainfall over the Mosquito and
Caldor West burn scars are expected up to and during the period of
the watch. The heaviest rainfall is expected between 4 PM and 8
PM. Residents near the Mosquito and Caldor West burn scars should
prepare for potential flooding impacts. Be sure to stay up to date
with information from local authorities. Heavy rainfall could
trigger flash flooding of low-lying areas, urbanized street
flooding, and debris flows in and near recent wildfire burn scars.

– National Weather Service Meteorologists are forecasting heavy
rainfall over the Mosquito and Caldor West burn scars, which
may lead to flash flooding and debris flows.

…Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of central Tuolumne,
southern Plumas, west central Alpine, El Dorado, northeastern Placer,
southeastern Butte, northeastern Calaveras, Sierra, northeastern
Yuba, Nevada and central Amador Counties through 415 PM PDT…

At 340 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from Scotts Flat to near Angels City. Movement was
north at 25 mph.

HAZARD…Winds in excess of 30 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.

Locations impacted include…
Grass Valley, Placerville, Sonora, Brush Creek Rs, Downieville, San
Andreas, Cisco, Calaveras Big Trees SP, Blue Canyon, Big Bend Summit,
Bear Valley, Pulga, Sierra City, Baxter, Quincy, Lake Of The Pines,
East Quincy, Colfax, Stirling City and Rail Road Flat.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
