Vallecito, CA…On August 22, 2023, at approximately 1349 hours, the California Highway Patrol was dispatched to a collision on Camp Nine Road. Ronald Dean Waltrip was driving his Jeep westbound on Camp Nine Road. For an unknown reason, He stopped the and drove in reverse, drifting off the roadway on the uphill side. The Jeep traveled up the steep embankment and became unstable. He may have fallen or attempted to jump from the vehicle as the Jeep rolled onto the driver side and landed on the roadway atop the driver.

He succumbed to his injuries. No other vehicles were involved. This collision is still under investigation.
