Kai is Ready to Join Your Family

San Andreas, CA…Here’s Kai, a male Border Collie mix, estimated to be 1-2 years old and 64 pounds. Kai and Kimo were left on a property with a caretaker when their owner moved out of state. Unfortunately, they kept escaping and bothering the neighbors, so they came to Animal Services.

Kai was anxious at first, though he now is becoming joyful and eager to have a fun time. He is bonding quickly and showing affection. He was relaxed and tolerant when having mats cut out and a nice bath. He seems to be housebroken.

He likes all other dogs he has met, even the reactive ones, and he has had successful playdates with one male and two females. If he had his way, he’d be an only dog and get all the peoples’ attention!

A meet ’n greet is required if you have another dog. Since Kai has been neutered, he is all set to follow you home. Come on down!

All dogs available for adoption at the Calaveras Animal Shelter are up-to-date on their routine vaccinations and will be microchipped. All unaltered cats and dogs must be spayed or neutered before they can go home with you.

Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!
When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered will be $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
