Angels Camp, CA…Walt passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at the age of 73. Born on June 6, 1950, in Sonora, California. Walt was the only child of Robert and Elsie (Bardsley) Hebenstreit. He is survived by his children Dean (Lori) Hebenstreit and Carly (Kris) Saunders, as well as his four grandchildren, Cody, Kacie, Abigail, and Cade.

Walt grew up in Angels Camp and graduated from Bret Harte High School in 1968. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1971 to 1973. After returning home, he resided in Angels Camp for the remainder of his life, retiring from PG&E after 35 years.

Walt was happiest when spending time with his children and grandchildren. A dedicated sideline grandparent, he enjoyed watching various sporting events and taking pictures. He also enjoyed dabbling in many skilled hobbies such as fishing, woodworking, leather crafting, and coin collecting. His laugher, wisdom, easy going nature, and unwavering support of his family will be missed forever.

In accordance with Walt’s wishes, there will be no formal services to commemorate his life. Instead, his family will gather privately to celebrate his memory and spread his ashes in the places he loved.

Rest in peace, Walt. You will be dearly missed. We will carry your love and memory in our hearts forever.
