Arnold, CA…Evelyn May McClure, of Arnold, CA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 6th at the eternal age of 29, surrounded by family. Born to Joseph & Sarah Richardson on July 30, 1940 in Troy, MI, Evelyn was one of eleven children. She maintained a close relationship with her siblings throughout her life, bonding over practical jokes and pranks. Evelyn married Ed Gibson in 1957 and had four children. She spent much of her adult life in Flint, Michigan before moving to Calaveras County in 1980. She married her second husband, Bill, in 1985 and lived in Arnold, in the house he built for the rest of her life.
Evelyn was a hard worker and the epitome of unconditional love. She instilled these values, and the love of laughter, in her children & grandchildren. She was a long-time member of the Ebbetts Pass Moose Lodge, and a devoted supporter of the Bingo program. Her hobbies included cheating at board games, doing jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, taking trips to the casino, & spending time with family & friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and 8 of her siblings; her daughter Catherine Gibson, daughter-in-law Clarisse Gibson, and her beloved husband, Bill McClure.
Evelyn is survived by her brothers, Richard & Potato; children, Jean (Brad) Oskey, EJ Gibson, Sarah (Tim) Oskey, Robert McClure, Andrea (Dustin) Finck; grandchildren, Pamela Gibson, Casey (Josh) Hopwood, Tiffany (Brett) Grisler, Kelsey (Kyle) Riffle, Alyssa Oskey, Alayna Oskey, Donovan Finck, Chris Boyett, Rebecca Boyett; and great-grand children, Elliott, Jonah, Everly, Alex, Trinity & Selene.
Evelyn will be remembered for her love, laughter, and large collection of Elvis memorabilia.
A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, September 9th at 1:30 pm at the Memorial Pavillion at Frog Town. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Calaveras Cancer Support Group through the Calaveras Community
Foundation or the Ebbetts Pass Moose Lodge.
