Sonora, CA…Late this morning around 11:30 A.M., Deputy Yorston was patrolling in East Sonora when he saw a Mitsubishi Lancer driving towards him. Deputy Yorston recognized the vehicle and the driver from having previous law enforcement contacts with him. Deputy Yorston recognized the driver as being Wayne Dunlap a 26 year old Sonora man who is an unlicensed driver and who currently has a warrant for his arrest.
A traffic stop was initiated at Spanish Grant/Longeway Road. During contact, the female passenger was identified as Isela Sandoval a 31 year old transient who is on searchable probation. Deputy Yorston performed a search of the vehicle and found a stolen IPhone and a stolen loaded 9mm handgun underneath the driver’s seat.
Dunlap and Sandoval were arrested and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail.
Sandoval was booked for misdemeanor receiving stolen property and was released from the jail with a court date. Dunlap was booked for felon in possession of a firearm, prohibited person owning or possessing ammunition, receiving known stolen property, driving without a license and a misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear on possession of a controlled substance. Dunlap bailed later in the evening on a 20,000 bail.
