Angels Camp, CA…The Grandparent Project of Calaveras provides real life, practical support for grandparents and other relatives raising grandchildren. All participants, children, family friends and those who may be interested in meeting other grandparents/relative caregivers are invited to celebrate together with a picnic on May 1, 2016. This year the fun will be held in two locations, Turner Park in San Andreas and White Pines Park in Arnold. The celebrations will take place from 12:30-2:30 at both locations. Please RSVP to Therese May at 209-728-2338 if you plan to join in the fun!
“It’s not easy for anyone to navigate the complexities of parenting today, but it can be especially difficult for grandparents and other relatives who step into the role and find that times have really changed since they last parented,” said Grandparent Project Coordinator Therese May.
The Grandparent Project of Calaveras provides support and resources for grandparents and other relatives/caregivers who are raising children in Valley Springs/San Andreas; Angels Camp/Copperopolis; Arnold/Murphys and West Point. Arlene Weissman, Arleen Garland and Therese May facilitate the groups from September through May. Individual consultations at homes or other community settings are also available.
The Calaveras County Office of Education (CCOE) is pleased to announce continued funding for the project in 2016-2017, thanks to support from the Prop 63 Mental Health Services Act through Calaveras County Health and Human Services Agency.
