Groveland, CA…The Groveland Ranger District is planning to conduct an understory burn this month and as soon as next week, weather and fuels conditions permitting. The burn area is located approximately 4 miles NE of Greeley Hill, along Forest road 1S29, 2S28, and 2S17, encompassing approximately 546 acres. The area will be treated with low-intensity fire, accomplishing approximately 50 acres daily. Ignition of the prescribed burn is expected late April of 2016 or early May of 2016, with controlled burning to continue over the next 10 days once iginitions have started. Burning is contingent on weather, fuel moisture, and air quality. All burning is monitored and conducted in accordance with state and county air quality guidelines and closely coordinated with local county air quality control districts. |
