Thanksgiving Day Crash Takes Life of Jamestown Resident

Sonora, CA…On November 23, 2023, at approximately 9:55AM, a Jamestown resident was driving a 2022 Toyota Rav4 in a southbound direction on Mono Way at the intersection with SR-108 at 50-60 miles per hour. The driver entered the intersection without making any apparent attempt to slow or turn. The Toyota continued at this speed, left the south edge of the roadway, and struck the south mountainside with the front of the Toyota.

The Toyota then rolled over onto its roof as it rolled over up the mountainside. The Toyota came to rest on its roof just south of SR-108 and Mono Way. The driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

It is undetermined at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this crash.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The identity of the driver is not being released at this time.
