Bear Valley, CA…Hey Good People! Opening Day is nearly here as this Saturday December 9th we will start spinning lifts for the 23/24 Season!!!!!! Today, the upper level weather system will bring snow to the forecast area with 1-2″ expected to fall during the day starting sometime after the high noon mark. Currently the temp at the base area is 39F as the inversion has a grip on the 7000′ level.
Things will get windy today ahead of the approaching weather system with a SSW wind into the upper teens and low 20’s and gusting pushing upwards of the mid 30’s and potentially up to the 40mph range. Snow levels today will remain around the 7500′ elevation mark and drop down to the 6-6500′ range later in the afternoon and this evening. Tonight as things turn more favorable, the temp looks to drop to the low 20’s and another 2-4″ is expected to fall tonight with 1-2″ of snowfall Thursday morning.
A second quick moving system will show face Thursday evening bringing a possible 2-4″ more of new snow is looking better as the model runs are coming into alignment. Colder air with that system may drop snowfall down into the 3500′ range, so all resorts are stoked that Mother Nature is getting her game on despite some lower totals than we’d like to see. The big factor here is snow-making and the addition of it due to the lower, cold temps so things are looking great for the opening day this Saturday.
A drying out looks to take place come Friday and through the weekend and high pressure ridging will again move into the area and dominate the weather forecast into Thursday.
Keep checking back in for current updates as well as some general STOKE for skiing & riding to begin as THE BEAR IS BACK!!!!!
Peace Out,
Mattly
