Mind Matters’ Off The Beaten Path Set For April 30th

Murphys, CA…Off the Beaten Path, the Walk/Run for Autism Awareness will be staged for the fifth year on Saturday, April 30 in Murphys Community Park. The money raised will go to support Mind Matters, the Murphys based non-profit clinic that treats Autism and other learning disorders. The event will feature a 1K run, open to boys and girls aged seven and younger, and two other races, 5K and 10K, open to men and women of all ages. The scenic course will begin at the park and continue on Six Mile Road past rolling hills and beautiful vineyards. Participants who would rather walk than run are welcome to do so. Check-in time will start at 7 a.m. Following a warm-up session, conducted by Kat Juarez-Sutton, the first race will begin at 8 a.m. Awards will be presented in a variety of categories.

The entry fee for the 5K and 10K races is $25 for those registering by April 18. After that date, including race day, registrations will be $30. Each participant, registering before April 18, will receive a specially designed athletic shirt.

There is no charge for the 1K and race support runners, such as parents or older siblings, are welcome.

Entry blanks are available at many locations, including the Mind Matters office, 150 Big Trees Rd. in Murphys. They may also be downloaded from the website www.mindmattersclinic.org. After the run there will be the entertainment and other activities in the park until 12:30 p.m. with lively music provided by Plan B. Food from Arnold Pantry and beverages will be available to purchase throughout the day.

There will also be opportunities to learn about the many programs offered by Mind Matters and other agencies that provide services to families dealing with a variety of learning and emotional issues.

Mind Matters exists to help individuals and families cope with the consequences of Autism Spectrum Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD/ADD), and Learning Disabilities. The clinic does it through treatment, counseling, and education. It also strives to promote a better public understanding of these debilitating health issues. Mind Matters is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and donations to help extend its services are always welcome.
