Arnold, CA…Dixie Linebaugh October 30, 1921 ~ December 20, 2023 (age 102). Dixie passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday December 20th at home in Manteca. Born Dixie Lee Johnson to Albert & Vivian Johson on October 30, 1921, in San Antonio, TX. They moved to California during the great depression. Dixie spent WWII helping in the war efforts with her husband, Ed Chapin (navy veteran), and 3 sons. They lived in San Francsico while he was stationed there.
1962 dixie married Glenn Linebaugh. They resided in Arnold. Owned and operated S.C. Linebaugh logging company. Dixie was nominated as bookkeeper.
Dixie contributed to many charities throughout her lifetime. Sponsored many Native American children. She never turned her back on anyone in need including animals.
She was a member of the moose lodge. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, crocheting and she loved reading racy westerns.
Dixie’s sons Ed, David and Bud Chapin; grandsons Jeff and Kenny Chapin; and great-grandson Mathew Fields proceeded her in death. She is survived by daughter Lana Mungle and adopted granddaughter Debi Chapin. Dixie is leaving grandchildren Chuck Chapin, David M. Chapin, Lisa Cote, Tommy Baker, Dennis Chapin-Baker, Lynnette Parafin, Jamie Clayton, Jeff Chapin and David chapin. Dixie will be survived by many great and great-great grandchildren.
She was a strong woman who raised her children to be strong and independent.
Services will be held on Thursday, December 28th at 11:00am at Angels Memorial Chapel in Angels Camp..
