Hospice Of Amador & Calaveras Offers Volunteer Training

Jackson, CA…Hospice of Amador & Calaveras has a history of providing end-of-life care to both Amador & Calaveras residents. The agency began with a volunteer program over 30 years ago and now they continue to offer care with a well trained, professional staff and also with the help of a large number of trained volunteers. Volunteers provide special comfort to terminally ill patients and their families. Volunteers support by sitting with patients and listening, reading to them, running errands or assisting in many other ways. Many times patients want to share stories that they have never shared before. Trained volunteers can offer respite to the family member/paid caregiver who tends the patient on a 24 hour basis. This allows the family member/caregiver time to run errands themselves or possibly make a much needed doctor visit or have lunch with a friend. Anyone interested in helping others could become a volunteer. Veterans are encouraged to call and learn more about volunteering and our Veteran- to-Veteran Volunteer Program.
