Copperopolis, CA…Rae Johnson May 19, 1938 ~ January 9, 2024 (age 85). Rae Johnson, 85 years old, passed away peacefully on January 9th at the Riverwood Healthcare Center in Stockton, California after a long battle with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born on May 19th, 1938, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Dema and Martin Wayne Harper.
Rae was very social and during her life she volunteered and served in the Disabled American Veteran’s Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary in Antioch-Post 161, Paradise-Post 259 and Chico-Post 17, in California. She enjoyed having aquariums and birds, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing bingo and card games. Later in life, She worked part time as a home health aide.
Rae was married to Robert Ambrose for 44 years and they had two children, Ginger and Thomas. Robert passed away in 2002, and in 2004 she married Raymond Johnson. They were married 19 years. Rae and Raymond were active in the Lutheran Church in Paradise, California where they volunteered for the braille and large print book ministry. When they moved to Copperopolis, they transferred to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Sonora, California.
Rae is survived by her husband Raymond Johnson, brother Mike Harper (Donna), daughter Ginger Clements (Ed), grandchildren Eddie Clements (Liz), LeeAnn Ambrose, Tommy Ambrose, seven great grandchildren, one niece, and two nephews.
Rae is preceded in death by her parents Dema and Martin W Harper, brother Myles Harper, late husband Robert Ambrose, and son Thomas Ambrose.
