Assault Over Marijuana Cultivation Leads to Arrest

Valley Springs, CA…On January 13, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a physical altercation at the 2000 block of Ross Drive in Valley Springs. Upon arrival, they found a victim with a head injury.

The altercation, beginning with an argument about marijuana cultivation, escalated when the suspect, 42-year-old Charles Jacobson, struck the victim and prevented them from calling for help. Jacobson was located and arrested at the scene. He has been booked into the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office jail on charges of battery resulting in serious injury, elder abuse, and obstructing communication with emergency services. The victim was treated by medical personnel on the scene.
