Free Community Events to Celebrate American Heart Month this February

Sonora, CA…Adventist Health Sonora invites the community to celebrate American Heart Month with heart-healthy activities all February long. The schedule of events kicks off next Thursday, February 1 with a Heart Walk at the Health Pavilion and Diana J. White Cancer Institute at noon. The community is invited to walk laps at the Pavilion to earn tickets for a chance to win prizes. Plus, participants will receive free Heart Month t-shirts and walking logs to stay active all month long.

Participants will have the chance to turn in their completed walking logs and enter a prize drawing at another Heart Walk to close out the month, happening on Thursday, February 29 at noon in Courthouse Park in downtown Sonora.

Additional Heart Month events include:
– Thursday, February 8: Heart Fest at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds, with daytime exhibits for school groups and an evening program for adults featuring a cardiologist lecture, health screenings and a free heart-healthy dinner. (Advance reservations required)
– Week of February 11-17: Dine Around Town with Your Valentine, a fundraiser for Project HOPE at participating local restaurants.
– Thursday, February 22: Garden Café Blue Zones Project Approved™ Celebration with cooking demonstrations, free heart-healthy recipe samples and a Purpose Workshop with Blue Zones Project Tuolumne County. (Advance reservations required for Purpose Workshop)

Other activities include a children’s coloring contest and a window display contest among downtown Sonora businesses.
