West Point, CA…On January 20th, at approximately 0900 hours, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a reported vehicle vandalism on the 100 block of Main Street in West Point, California. Upon arrival, deputies were informed of a prior altercation that occurred the night before between the victim and 36-year-old Corbin Adams. The confrontation escalated into a physical dispute. A short time after the occurrence, the victim reported hearing gunfire outside his residence and observed Corbin Adams’ vehicle leaving the location. A vehicle parked in the victim’s driveway was subsequently found with bullet damage, shattered windows, and a flat tire. This incident was not reported by the victim until the following morning.
At approximately 1230 hours, the Sheriff’s Office received another call from the same location regarding a separate shooting. Deputies arrived to find the victim in the driveway with a gunshot wound to a lower extremity. Investigations revealed that an additional argument had occurred between the victim and Corbin Adams, during which Adams displayed a handgun and fired at the victim before fleeing the scene. The victim was transported to an out-of-area hospital and is currently in stable condition.
Later, deputies responded to an out-of-area hospital where Corbin Adams had sought treatment and was admitted, claiming he had been stabbed by the victim during their initial confrontation the night before.
