Marjorie J. Bowman 1926 – 2024

White Pines, CA…Marjorie J. Bowman passed peacefully on February 14, 2024 at the age of 97. She was born on October 19, 1926 to Minnie and Earl Blodgett in Montpelier CA. Marge is preceded in death by her loving husband Walter (PETE) Bowman, her four sisters, Evelyn, Dorothy, Francis, and Edie, grandson Doug Smith and great granddaughter Melissa McAlpine. Marge is survived by daughter Peggy Smith (Layne) and Pat Bowman (Pam), 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

In 1945 Pete and Marge settled in White Pines, CA where Pete worked for Linebaugh Logging. At that time they lived in a cabin in the logging camp. They later moved to their permanent home in White Pines where they raised their two children and many beloved dogs. Marge helped with the two family businesses in the years to follow which were B and D Truck Wheels, and White Pines Welding and Towing.

Marge was instrumental in many community projects. She, along with her niece Anette Linebaugh cared for the Linebaugh Park in White Pines, she was a life member and docent for the White Pines Logging Museum, she volunteered at the Independence Hall Flea Market and was a member of the First Baptist Church of White Pines.

Marge was known for her kind and giving spirit whether it was leaving fresh flowers for each teacher and the office staff on the first day of school at Hazel Fischer Elementary or hanging Christmas swags that she and friends made every year for every house and street sign in White Pines. The White Pines Christmas Parade/Light Show was started in honor of Marge (and friends) who loved everything Christmas. She loved her community and was part of coining the phrase “White Pines is NOT Arnold”.
