Suspect Arrested for Possession of Drugs for Sale

Valley Springs, CA…On January 20th, at approximately 0900 hours, a Calaveras County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic enforcement stop on Highway 12 near Valley Springs for an equipment violation.

Upon contacting the driver, Michael L Zumkeller, age 43, from Jenny Lind, the deputy recognized him as being on probation. The deputy conducted a search of the vehicle to ensure Zumkeller was adhering to the terms of his probation. During the search, the deputy located suspected methamphetamine, a glass smoking pipe, and a digital scale. In total, 31.9 grams of methamphetamine were located. For reference, a single packet of table sugar at most restaurants is 1 gram.

Suspect Zumkeller was placed under arrest, and his probation was revoked. He was transported to the Calaveras County Jail where he was booked on felony charges.
