Murphys, CA…The 10th Annual Taste of Calaveras was the best yet. The top wineries, restaurants and artists of Calaveras County will converged at Ironstone Vineyards, for the tenth annual Taste of Calaveras April 16. To top off the perfect mix of wine, food and art, The Bob Eisenmann Jazz Trio performed in the Breezeway. “This event is always fun and filled with friendly competition,” explains Brian Goss, co-owner of the Murphys Historic Hotel and long-time Taste enthusiast. “The goal is to be able to showcase the best of Calaveras food, wine and art in one place and this event is just that. A true Foodies Paradise!”
Guests’ taste buds delighted in culinary creations from Lila and Sage Cake and Catering Co., Marisolio Tasting Bar, the Murphys Hotel, Mangini Ranch, the Calaveras Cheese Lady, Gold Country Roasters, Creative Catering, Country Bagel, Moke Hill Nuts & Gifts, Roy’s Seasoning, JoMa’s Ice Cream, Sidewinders Restaurant, Calaveras/Tuolumne Cattle Women and Angels Camp Farmers Market.
“We are excited that we had a wide mix of participants this year – some new businesses such as JoMa’s, Country Bagel and the new owner of Sidewinders, as well as long-standing restaurants, wineries and artists that have been with us for years,” said Kerry Keeney, event coordinator.
Alongside Calaveras celebrity chefs, winemakers poured their finest from Ayreal Vieux, Black Sheep Winery, Broll Mountain Vineyards, Coppermine, Frog’s Tooth Winery, Hovey Winery, Irish Vineyards, Lavender Ridge Winery, Locke Vineyards, Milliaire Winery, Mineral Winery, Moody Ridge Wine Co., Renegade Winery, Stevenot Winery and Zucca Mountain Vineyards.
While winemakers poured their award-winning wines, chefs handed out samples of specialty foods and artists painted from their palette, guests were able to engage in short educational cooking and wine demonstrations.
Guests can also bid on a number of items in the extensive silent auction including hotel stays, limousine service, gift baskets, Bambi Papais original art, a seven-night stay at the Marigot Bay Resort in St. Lucia, gift certificates and award-winning Calaveras wine.
Proceeds from the event go toward the many community projects of the Angels Camp Business Association. Event sponsors were Mark Twain Dignity Health, Century 21 Sierra Properties, Murphys Business Association and the Greater Arnold Business Association.
