San Andreas, CA…Here’s Mama, a delightful short-haired Tortie who is about 2 years old. Mama was brought to the shelter by a woman who was caring for a community cat colony. Mama gave birth to 9 kittens in July of 2023, and was a great little mama to them. 7 survived and were placed in homes with the help of Animal Services and Spence Ranch & Feed.
Mama was super friendly, unlike the other cats in the colony, and the other cats were beating up on her. Mama loves people and attention and thoroughly enjoys being petted once you give her a few head and ear scratches. She will be a terrific companion or family cat in any household where she will get the love and affection she so deserves. She has a beautiful coat and will only get prettier with your love and care.
Since Mama is ear-tipped, which indicates she is spayed, she can go home with you right away.

All cats available for adoption at the Calaveras Animal Shelter are up-to-date on their routine vaccinations and will be microchipped. All unaltered cats and dogs must be spayed or neutered before they can go home with you.
Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!
When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered will be $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
