Columbia College’s “Symphony Of The Sierra” On April 30th

Columbia, CA…Columbia College will present its spring concert “Symphony of the Sierra” at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30th in the Dogwood Theater. The wide-ranging repertoire promises to be a performance well worth hearing. According to orchestra conductor, Mic Harper, “The repertoire provides a wonderful introduction to orchestral music for children and is complex enough to satisfy the seasoned classical ear.”

In addition to selections from the score of the Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens, composed by John Williams, the concert includes Aaron Copeland’s Fanfare for the Common Man, Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite #1, selections from Hammerstein’s and Kern’s musical, Showboat, and three Romanian Folk Dances by Bella Bartok, as well as other popular works. The concert is free and the public are invited to attend.
