Tuolumne, CA…The fire remains at 85 acres. Crews have hose lays around the fire perimeter and are working to complete handline on all sides. The majority of the fire is in steep and difficult terrain which is challenging hand crew progress. In areas that are inaccessible, rotary and fixed-wing aircraft are being used.
Dozers are also working to complete contingency lines from Ponderosa Hills to Mt. Provo and along the east side of Tuolumne City.
Crews will continue with line construction throughout the night.
Fire behavior has moderated slightly despite the steep terrain, warm temperatures, and low humidity. Tomorrow’s weather conditions are expected to be similar to today with temperatures in the 90’s and humidity of 15 to 20 percent. Winds have been minimal.
