Hinterhaus is named in honor of the hinterland at our doorstep – the vast Sierra Nevada wilderness that has long beckoned explorers and adventurers to this breathtaking mountain range. Our spirits are born beneath the long shadows and rustling needles of tall trees using fresh mountain water that flows just beyond our doors before bottling at our 4000 ft perch. We are proudly family operated, and we collaborate with our neighbors to source local ingredients and casks. Every spirit we produce reflects the pristine region we call home. Enjoy a taste of the Sierra with us, and we raise a dram to those who carve their own path.

What’s a Kräuterlikör, you ask? It’s a traditional digestif enjoyed throughout central Europe with varying recipes. Similar to Amaro, krauterlikor is a semi-bitter, spiced liqueur that can be enjoyed neat or in any number of cocktails. We think it’s perfectly sublime when the weather chills 🍂, the bucks 🦌 come out, and we share great drams with our favorite people 🥃

If you’ve enjoyed our signature ALPINE MANHATTAN in our distillery cocktail lounge, you’ve had Anorak. Made with 2 parts whiskey, 1 part Anorak, and 2 dashes of orange bitters, this is the easiest spin on a classic cocktail that will impress your guests this fall 🍁

Drop by every Thursday through Saturday from 12-6 and every Sunday from 12-5 to taste this delightful sipper near or in a drink. Then purchase your bottles to enjoy for the season!

*Anorak is distilled from 100% California grapes at Hinterhaus and made with 23 spices and herbs. It is barrel-aged using the time-honored solera technique at our distillery. Proof varies by batch but is typically 86 Proof. Not available for shipping due to limited supply… do we need to give you another reason to visit? 🤩
