Bear Valley, CA…Bear Valley Mountain Resort is thrilled to announce the opening of the new Koala Chairlift , marking a monumental milestone in enhancing the winter experience for our guests. This highly anticipated fixed-grip quad lift will provide easier access to one of the most beloved areas of the mountain, opening up a wide variety of terrain for skiers and riders of all levels.

The Koala Chair has long been a memorable feature of Bear Valley, carrying generations of skiers and riders and holding a special place in the hearts of our guests. Following an extensive upgrade, the lift is now ready to welcome visitors with improved reliability, increased capacity, and the same cherished spirit. The original chairs from the Koala lift were so popular that they sold out in under two hours to fans eager to own a piece of Bear Valley history over the summer months.

Improved Capacity and Guest Experience

The Koala Chairlift upgrade is part of a series of enhancements aimed at elevating the overall mountain experience. This new lift adds 50% more capacity and will support various terrain, from beginner-friendly slopes to advanced runs. It will also play a crucial role in hosting many of the resort’s ski races.

“The replacement of the old Koala double chair with a quad not only provides a more modern feel to the Bear Valley lift system but virtually eliminates any lift line and provides comfortable access to our best north-facing slopes on the front side of our mountain. Quad chairs are also more social, as three friends on the chair are more fun than one!” said Brad Cumberland, Bear Valley General Manager.

Eric Bledsoe, Director of Lift Operations, shared his enthusiasm for the accomplishment: “This chair is a big step forward for Bear Valley with the new fixed-grip quad Koala chair. The future is looking bright for Bear Valley. My lift maintenance crew has been working diligently to provide a new, fun experience for skiers and riders of all ages and skill levels, and we can’t wait to see the excitement on our guests’ faces this winter.”

WINTER EXPLOSION IS THIS WEEKEND Get ready for an unforgettable day and night at Bear Valley! Celebrate one of the season’s biggest events with activities for everyone:   9 AM – 3 PM: Try out 22 Designs gear for FREE at the sundeck demo. 10 AM – 11:30 AM: Show off your creativity in our Snowman Contest with fun categories and great prizes. 10 AM – 8 PM – Special Complimentary Shuttle Service Hours (Saturday Only) Shuttle services will be available between the resort and the village until 8 PM.
