…WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON
TO 10 AM PST WEDNESDAY ELEVATIONS ABOVE 5500 FEET…

* WHAT…Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3
feet above 5500 feet, up to 4 feet over peaks. Winds gusting as
high as 70 mph.

* WHERE…West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada County.

* WHEN…From 1 PM this afternoon to 10 AM PST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS…Travel will be very difficult to impossible. Slick
travel conditions are expected, with chain controls likely. The
hazardous conditions could impact the Monday evening through
Tuesday evening commutes. Strong winds could cause reduced
visibility and tree damage.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Heaviest snowfall is expected late tonight
into Tuesday, with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour
possible at times.

NIGHT…

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE…A portion of Northern California, including the following
areas, Carquinez Strait and Delta, Central Sacramento Valley,
Motherlode, Northeast Foothills/Sacramento Valley, Northern
Sacramento Valley, Northern San Joaquin Valley, Southern
Sacramento Valley, West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada and Western
Plumas County/Lassen Park.

* WHEN…From this afternoon through late Tuesday night.

* IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas. There is the potential for mud
and rock slides in the foothills and mountains.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– Periods of moderate to heavy rainfall are expected over the
next 36 hours with totals 2 to 4 inches in the Valley, 3
to 8 inches in the foothills, and 5 to 10 inches in the
mountains below below 5500 feet. Heaviest period of rain will
be this evening into Tuesday night.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
