San Andreas, CA…Last month two Calaveras County Supervisors along with County leaders went to Sacramento to provide in-person public comment seeking reconsideration from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) for a $30.8 million dollar broadband infrastructure grant award. The grant request is for approximately 40 miles of new broadband fiber in Calaveras County and would provide service to over 1,200 new customers plus provide approximately 3,000 households with a choice of internet providers.
To date, the CPUC has not acted on the request and the Calaveras County project approval is not posted on the meeting agenda for February 20, 2025. As a result, the County once again asks the public, community partners, businesses, and agencies to please provide public comment on the importance of awarding the Golden State Connect Authority the Federal Fund Account grant request for Calaveras County at the CPUC meeting on February 20th, 2025. We need our voices to be heard!
