Arnold, CA…Michael Norman Hill, resident of Arnold, California, died 4/26 in Sonora after a short illness.
Memorial celebration is being planned for May 29th, at 2pm at Mt Brow Winery. Michael was born in Stockton, 9/5/42. He worked as a contractor for his realtor parents (Hill Realty in Blue Lake Springs), Carl and Mabel Hill before getting his AA degree at Sacramento City College, his bachelor’s and master’s at California State University, Sacramento. He got his doctorate at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. He was dean of Humphrey’s College prior to coming to teach at Columbia College. He taught business administration, business law, accounting, business math and small business accounting; he also led the work experience program for business. He helped start the faculty scholarship program, and was active in the Columbia Foundation. Besides his teaching, he enjoyed sailing and running, participated in the Boston Marathon in 2003, and was a torchbearer for the Salt Lake Olympic Games. He lived in Calaveras County over 25 years.
He is survived by his daughters of his first marriage Molly and Kevyn; 4 grandchildren and also great grandchildren. He married Terry Katherine Miller 1/9/82 on the Potomac River, Washington, D.C. His wife preceded him in death Sept 22, 2015.
