Sonora, CA…On March 8, 2025, at approximately 8:11 pm, Sonora CHP officers were advised of a traffic crash with
an ambulance responding at the intersection of Mono Way and Greenley Road. CHP personnel determined this crash was a three-vehicle minor injury crash, involving a Sonora Police Department patrol vehicle operating with its emergency lights.
37-year-old Abdul Matin Chakari from Turlock, CA, was driving his 2012 Toyota Prius westbound on Mono Way at the intersection of Old Wards Ferry Road. Sonora Police Department Officer Ryan was driving his fully marked black and white Chevrolet Tahoe patrol vehicle with lights and siren activated, northbound on Old Wards Ferry Road, at the intersection of Mono Way. 37-year-old Salisha Rachelle Blackburn from Sonora, CA, was driving her 2020 Jeep Cherokee, stopped in the number one left turn lane of southbound Greenley Road to eastbound Mono Way. The front of the Toyota Prius collided with the right side of the Chevrolet Tahoe. The Toyota Prius continued in a northwesterly direction and the front of the Toyota Prius collided with the front of the Jeep Cherokee. Officer Ryan was transported for his minor injuries.
Alcohol or drug use does not appear to be a contributing factor in this crash. This crash is still under
investigation.
