San Andreas, CA…Meet Atlas (A058892), a neutered male German Shepherd mix, about 3 years old and 80 pounds. Atlas is a gentle giant with a heart as big as his frame. He’s sweet, affectionate, and eager to connect with his person. Once uncertain and overwhelmed, Atlas is now gaining confidence each day, thanks to patient shelter volunteers and a growing sense of trust.

When Atlas arrived at the shelter, it was clear he hadn’t been on a leash before. Walks were stressful at first, but with gentle encouragement, he’s made remarkable progress and now enjoys his outings. His transformation is a reminder that even abandoned dogs can blossom with love and patience.
One of Atlas’s most endearing traits is his fondness for hugs. He leans in softly, showing his affection with gentle physical closeness. He also gets along well with other dogs—including puppies—and would likely thrive in a home with a calm canine companion.
Atlas would do best in a home where he can continue to build confidence and deepen his bond with a devoted human. His mellow temperament and affectionate nature make him a great fit for someone looking for a loving, loyal dog to share life’s quieter moments.
