Major Injuries’ & DUI Arrest for Pioneer Man

Pioneer, CA…On 08/19/2025, at approximately 1650 hours, William Fitzsimmons was driving his 1997 Chevrolet S10 Blazer (Vehicle #1, V-1), westbound on SR-88, east of Cedar Heights Dr., at an unknown speed, approaching a slight left hand curve in the roadway. Sara Olson was driving her 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe (Vehicle #2, V-2), accompanied by three juvenile passengers, eastbound on SR-88, east of Cedar Heights Dr., at approximately 50 mph.

Fitzsimmons allowed V-1 to veer over the solid white line, onto the north shoulder of SR-88 and onto the dirt shoulder. Fitzsimmons made an abrupt steering movement to the left, causing V-1 to spin in a counterclockwise direction and skid across both lanes, where the right side of V-1 collided with the front end of V-2. Olson tried to make an evasive maneuver by applying the brakes and veering to the right, but could not avoid the crash. Following the impact, V-1 rolled over onto its left side. Fitzsimmons was unrestrained at the time of the crash and became trapped inside V-1, where he was extricated by Amador Fire Department. Fitzsimmons was treated for his major injuries at the scene and later transported via Air Ambulance to Kaiser South. Olson, along with her passengers, suffered moderate to minor injuries as a result of the crash.

Alcohol impairment was determined to be a factor in this crash, and Fitzsimmons was placed under arrest at the scene.
