Meet Rusty and Yogi & Take Them Home Today!

San Andreas, CA…Meet Rusty (A043248) and Yogi (A051701), two male companions—a Terrier mix about 12 pounds and 12 years, and a German Shepherd mix about 94 pounds and 7 years. This unlikely but devoted pair of friends came to the shelter together after their owner faced a housing crisis. Though their sizes are dramatically different, Rusty and Yogi are bonded pals, always ready for a stroll side by side. While they can be adopted separately, the dream is that someone might welcome them both and keep their friendship intact.

Yogi, the larger of the two, is a gentle giant with a big heart. He enjoys calm walks, meeting new people, and sometimes lets out a cheerful “ow-woo” when he’s excited, much to the amusement of volunteers. Rusty, the smaller Terrier, trots happily beside him with his little-big-man strut, charming everyone he meets and making the duo a true odd couple. Together they are confident, steady, and unfazed by the bustle of the shelter.

Both dogs are friendly with people and other dogs, have passed their behavior evaluations, and are ready for adoption now. At their ages, they’ve left puppy antics behind and instead offer the kind of loyal companionship only senior dogs can. With their calm manners, affectionate natures, and heartwarming friendship, Rusty and Yogi promise to bring warmth, humor, and joy to a lucky home—whether together or apart.
