Memorial Weekend Update From Alpine County Sheriff’s Office

Markleeville, CA…Here’s a report of some of what went on this Memorial Day Weekend. On Friday, one of our Deputies observed a vehicle weaving and driving at various speeds. He performed a traffic stop in downtown Markleeville and discovered the driver had been drinking. CHP responded and arrested the driver, a 57 year old Markleeville man. On Sunday afternoon, a two-vehicle head on collision took the life of 63 year old Lucinda Ramirez, of Pine Grove. 3 other persons were transported via air rescue.

Also on Sunday, in the wee hours, some residents in Markleeville were awakened by an intoxicated male banging on their bedroom door. Upon a Deputy’s arrival, the man was found sleeping in one of the residents’ vehicles. Luke LaBlond, age 25 of San Mateo was taken into custody for Public Intoxication.
