Construction Worker Now Even Later for Work

Sutter Creek, CA…On December 31, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m., an on-duty detective driving eastbound on Highway 16 in an unmarked law enforcement vehicle observed a white Honda Accord traveling at a high rate of speed.

The driver passed numerous additional vehicles recklessly, nearly causing several head-on collisions and forcing other drivers off the road. The vehicle turned onto southbound Highway 49, continuing to pass vehicles unsafely and reaching speeds of about 100 mph.

For safety reasons, our detective did not attempt to conduct a pursuit in his unmarked vehicle, but attempted to keep the reckless driver within view, while coordinating with dispatch. A deputy in a marked patrol car observed the vehicle in Sutter Creek, as it turned from Highway 49 onto Ridge Road, and conducted an enforcement stop. The driver, a 33-year-old man from Sacramento, told deputies that he was “late for work” to a construction job.

In addition to learning that we do not only have marked patrol cars on the highway, the driver received a misdemeanor citation for reckless driving, and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

Please remember to slow down and drive safely!
