Angels Camp, CA…(Calaveras County) Sierra HOPE is grateful for the leadership of the Save Mart Companies – The CARES Foundation with a grant award of $5,000 and CM CAA (Calaveras Mariposa Community Action Agency) “Comfort and Care” program with a gift of over $40,000 to purchase nutritional food from Save Mart for low-income area families, individuals, seniors and veterans in need of nutritional support.The Calaveras-Mariposa Community Action Agency improves lives by developing and supporting resources for our mountain community residents.

Save Mart Companies – The CARES Foundation’s philanthropic focus is on building stronger communities through access to healthy food, supporting programs and organizations that provide resources, education, and healthy experiences and choices for children and adults.

Sierra HOPE’s mission is to promote individual dignity and support the health and well-being for at-risk members of our community through compassionate services and resources.

The Sierra Hope Community Food Pantry is located in Angels Camp at 473 S. Main Street in the Alta Village business complex, and will open weekly through the end of the year on Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m. Volunteers will prepare the food bags – to be given to those families, individuals, seniors, disabled, and veterans who are most fragile and in need of support.

“We are incredibly grateful and humbled by the response from the community with food and financial donations, however, hunger does not take a holiday and hunger happens year long,” stated CEO Ayesha Williamson. “Children don’t understand hunger, but they understand whether they have something to eat or not. I am grateful for this partnership with Save Mart Companies – The CARES Foundation and to CM CAA’s ‘Comfort and Care’ program to ensure no kid in our county goes hungry.

“On average, Sierra HOPE’s volunteer staff serves over 175 households who need food assistance weekly. “This is why we live in this county. We do not leave anyone behind,” stated Williamson.
