Jackson, CA…Last September Calaveras Sheriff Rachelle Whiting was a guest speaker at the Son’s In Retirement group luncheon at the Blue Lake Springs Homeowner’s Association Snowflake Lodge in Arnold. What was scheduled as an informative speech turned into thought-provoking interactions with remarkable members of our community.
So, when the Amador Branch 96 SIR group asked the Sheriff to be a guest speaker at their luncheon this week, she accepted the invitation. It helped that these monthly meetings are located at Teresa’s Italian food restaurant in Jackson, one of the Sheriff’s favorite Amador restaurants.
The Amador Branch SIR group is a mission-driven organization comprised of approximately 100 members of active, senior men from Amador County, Valley Springs, and San Andreas who utilize opportunities to socialize with peers in retirement, volunteer, and engage guest speakers of local interest.
A key component to our Sheriff’s Office philosophy on community policing involves these interactions that are interpersonal micro-level practices that benefit our agency by adding value in creating relationships with our community members.
Sheriff Whiting talked to the group today about our local public safety programs, services, resources, and strategies.
