It’s Time to Add Another Sister to Your Family!

San Andreas, CA…Meet Sister (A060704), a female Belgian Malinois mix, about 2 years old and weighing 50 pounds.
Sister is a gentle, soulful dog who has been quietly learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. She arrived at Calaveras County Animal Services as part of a large group of Belgian Malinois and shepherd mixes that had spent much of their lives confined to kennels and crates with very little opportunity for normal socialization or exploration. Despite that difficult beginning, Sister has shown herself to be remarkably sweet-natured and eager to connect.

At first, Sister was one of the more timid dogs in the group. She approached new experiences cautiously and needed reassurance from the people around her. But with patience, kindness, and consistent care from staff and volunteers, she has slowly begun to blossom. These days, she happily checks in with her handler on walks, accepts treats gently, and seeks out affection from the people she trusts.

Sister is quiet and thoughtful by nature, with a calm presence that makes her especially endearing. She enjoys walks, has started to relax enough to break into joyful zoomies during playtime, and does very well meeting other dogs. While she tends to be more reserved than some of the younger, rowdier dogs around her, she has shown good social skills and appropriate boundaries.

With her intelligence, moderate size, and affectionate temperament, Sister has wonderful potential to become a devoted companion. She would likely thrive in a patient home willing to continue helping her build confidence and experience the everyday comforts and adventures she missed earlier in life.
