San Andreas, CA…Meet Mary Ann (A060803), a female Akita mix, about 1 year old and weighing 53 pounds. Mary Ann is a joyful, high-energy young dog who seems to wake up each day ready to celebrate absolutely everything. At just over a year old, she has the exuberance of an oversized puppy and the kind of playful spirit that can turn an ordinary walk or game of fetch into a full comedy routine. She may not have completely mastered the finer points of retrieving a ball, but she more than makes up for it with enthusiasm, zoomies, and charm.
She is also tremendously affectionate. Mary Ann loves attention and isn’t shy about asking for it, whether that means leaning in for scritches or climbing straight into a lap as if 53 pounds is a perfectly reasonable cuddle size. She’s the kind of dog who wants to be right in the middle of the action and right next to her people.
Mary Ann is strong, athletic, and still learning her manners, so she will benefit from continued training and an adopter who can channel all that energy in positive ways. She can jump up when excited and will need some work on leash skills, but she is bright, eager, and clearly enjoys human interaction. She also appears to be agile enough that secure fencing and thoughtful supervision will be important in her future home.
With her half-raised ears, spotted socks, and larger-than-life personality, Mary Ann is hard not to fall for. She seems to do well with other dogs and has all the makings of a devoted companion for an active household ready to embrace her goofy affection and spirited nature.
