San Andreas, CA…No word yet on extent of damage to Bear Mountain Communication Equipment. As many of you have noticed the fire cameras went down at 7:31am this morning. This was probably not just due to a power outage as most of these systems have battery backup that should be good for 24 – 48 hours at least.

We just checked in with CCSO & CAL-FIRE if they had any knowledge on the extent of damage to the Bear Mountain equipment. As suspected though it’s still too early to know for sure.

There is lots of equipment up there for cell networks, wireless broadband, law enforcement radios, etc. This will be something to watch for as they start doing the recovery after the fire.

So in summary…Yes, some equipment went dark but it is too early to tell how much damage.
