Sonora, CA…The Woods Fire is currently holding at 65 acres. Fire crews are working to stop progression of the fire on both the east and west side. The incident will transition into a local Type 3 incident management team at 10:00 am today.
Currently on scene are Springville T2IA (Seqouia NF), Big Bear IHC (San Bernadino NF), Little Tujunga IHC (Angeles NF), and Crew 81 (Tuolumne Rancheria), 2 Engine crews (E332 and E314) for a total of 97 fire personnel on scene. Two packers are packing supplies out with the mule team. Two helicopters from the Bald Mountain Heli tack base are conducting water drops.
Crews are utilizing the Arnot Creek Trailhead. Please exercise caution in the area. The fire is lightning-caused and no homes or structures are currently threatened.
The Woods fire is one of five lightning caused fires that ignited over last week and the only one still active on the forest. All other lightning-caused fires are currently in contained status.
Currently, there are no evacuations or closures in effect.
