Murphys, CA…Ms. Mary Claire Tabler August 27, 1951 ~ August 16, 2026 (age 74).   Mary Claire was born on August 27, 1951 in Fresno, California, and passed away gently in her sleep at Murphys, California on August 16th, 2026.

She attended schools in Fresno and Visalia, California, and graduated from Sonoma State University with a degree in Psychology.

Claire devoted her professional life to caring for children and adults with special needs and was well known for her innovative approach to increase mobility and independence for those in her care.

Following her retirement, Claire volunteered at Murphys branch library. As an avid reader, this was a perfect fit for her many skills!

Claire was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Baumbach.

She is survived by her loving mother, Vonny Sturgeon, two brothers, Rodd Tabler and his wife Karen and their children, Reina, Joel and Lindsey; brother Brian Sturgeon, and adopted sister Rebecca Scott, her husband Peter and their daughter Sarah.

Also surviving are two step-children, Chris Baumbach and his wife Kimberly and their two sons Nicholas and Jackson; Carrie Frederick and her two sons, John and Zachary. And, of course, many very special nieces and nephews and cousins.

She is welcomed in Heaven by her great-grandmother, and namesake Mary Claire Heath Densow- together with a host of Angels (singing “Glory in Excelsis Deo”!)

A celebration of Claire’s life will be held Saturday, September 12 at 11 AM, Faith Lutheran Church, 65 Mitchler St., Murphys.
