Your Big Red Dog Clifford Awaits! Adopt Him Today!!!!

San Andreas, CA…Meet Clifford (A061288), a male mixed-breed dog, about 2 years old and weighing 85 pounds. Meet Clifford the Big Red Dog—although we now know a little more about just what kind of big red dog he is. When Clifford arrived at Calaveras County Animal Services, guesses about his ancestry ranged from Rhodesian Ridgeback to Vizsla to various hounds. A DNA test has settled at least part of the mystery: Clifford is 54% Doberman Pinscher, with German Shepherd and Siberian Husky among the other breeds in his family tree. Whatever the mix, one thing was never in doubt: Clifford is 100% good dog.

At 85 pounds, Clifford is indeed big, and at just 2 years old, he still approaches life with the enthusiasm of an oversized puppy. He loves people, makes friends easily, and is especially delighted to meet other dogs. He’s playful, happy and affectionate, with plenty of goofy charm packed into that big red body.

Clifford’s favorite outings are “sniffaris,” where he can put his nose to work exploring everything the world has to offer. He’s a strong fellow who can pull when something catches his interest, so he’ll benefit from continued leash training. But he’s also eager to please, treat-motivated, and already knows “sit” and “down,” giving his future family plenty to build on.

For all his youthful exuberance, Clifford has some excellent grown-up credentials, too. He takes treats nicely and appears to be very well housetrained. An active home that enjoys walks, adventures, playtime and perhaps a canine companion could have a whole lot of fun with this big, friendly guy.

Clifford may not be quite as enormous as his storybook namesake, but he has more than enough personality to fill the role. If your idea of the perfect companion is big, red, joyful and just a little bit goofy, this 100% good dog would very much like to meet you.
