Groveland, CA…The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CALFIRE) Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit will be conducting a prescribed burning operation in the vicinity of Pine Mountain Lake (PML), Monday, October 12, 2026.

Units will be ignited in the PML VMP near Pine Mountain Lake shooting range encompassing approximately 35 acres. The beneficial fire is being conducted for noxious weed abatement, contributing to rangeland improvement on portions. Along with hazardous fuels reduction adjacent to Pine Mountain Lake subdivision.

Prescribed burning will occur between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., weather permitting. Control lines and established roadways will be used to prevent the spread of fire from areas outside of the burn units. Firefighters will remain at scene during active burning and will be patrolling the area for multiple days after ignitions are complete.
