Murphys, CA…Jank Tones, a band based in Sonora consisting of bass, guitar and drums, will be the featured performers when the Murphys Community Club’s First Friday in the Park event is presented July 1 starting at 5:30 p.m. in the cool confines of Murphys Community Park. The band, whose agenda is to create an atmosphere for those who want to dance, was secured to replace John Covert’s Crystal Image Band that was forced to cancel due to health issues.

From June to September, the First Friday in the Park series features a performance by a popular musical group playing in the iconic gazebo starting at 5:30 p.m. From 4 p.m., tickets for a special dinner will be available for purchase at $12.00 per person and an excellent local wine will be on sale along with other beverages. This month, Sierra Hills Market and Lila & Sage will be catering the dinner and Milliaire will be the featured wine.

Friends and neighbors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy a small town America happening. There is no admission charge and ample free parking is available nearby. Donations to help maintain the park are always gratefully received.

The Murphys Community Club is celebrating its 68th year of providing services and programs for the greater Murphys area. Its prime responsibility is the management and maintenance of the beautiful Murphys Community Park.

This is the tenth year the club has presented First Fridays in the Park. These summertime events continue to grow in popularity and have fast become a Mother Lode tradition.
